“UNIDO” announced as affiliated partner of MEET ICT & BITEX 10th Edition

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)/Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (Bahrain), and The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) announced the signing of an MOU, to become an affiliated partner in the 10th edition of the Information and Communication Technology Conference ‘MEET ICT’ and Bahrain International Technology Exhibition ‘BITEX’.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)/Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (Bahrain), and The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) announced the signing of an MOU, to become an affiliated partner in the 10th edition of the Information and Communication Technology Conference ‘MEET ICT’ and Bahrain International Technology Exhibition ‘BITEX’.

 

The 10th edition of the ICT Conference "MEET ICT", and the Bahrain International Technology Exhibition “BITEX”, will launch from 14-16 June 2022, Under the Patronage of Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication, H.E. Engr. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

 

"The partnership with "UNIDO" represents the global interest in the ICT industry, as well as Bahraini interest because the ICT sector is rapidly evolving, with new technologies and breakthroughs in information systems networks and applications,” According to the Chairman of The Bahrain Technology Companies Society, Mr. Tareq Fakhroo

 

Mr. Fakhroo added: "By organizing this conference, we are working to keep up with developments in the communications technology sector, how to best apply it in Bahrain, and how beneficial it is for the national economy and development in general, relying on our partners, led by UNIDO, who spare no effort in supporting us.".

 

Mr. Fakhroo affirmed that in Bahrain, The ICT industry is one of the five primary sectors targeted for support and growth by the Economic Development Board, and a national strategy for the transition to a digital economy is being developed, reinforcing the necessity of moving forward in supporting and expanding this sector.

 

UNIDO ITPO Bahrain is honored to continue it’s 10-year strategic partnership with MEET ICT Conference and BITEX exhibition. We are actively involved in promoting the event and foreign direct investment within the region as it falls in line with our mandate of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals such as SDG 9 - Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation which falls under our mandate.

 

Furthermore, MEET ICT and BITEX provides a global platform for entrepreneurs, private and public sectors to benefit from the adoption of digitalization, know-how/expertise provided through workshops and access to new emerging technologies or innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, FINTECH tools etc. to maximize performance and efficiency in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

 

On the other hand, Mr. Ahmed Al Hujairy, CEO of "WorkSmart for Events Management”, said that “BTECH and WorkSmart will organize the event for the tenth time, to contribute to the development of the ICT sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and provide an opportunity for the exchange of the latest regional and global experiences at BITEX.” According to Mr. Al Hujairy.

 

Mr. Al Hujairy indicated that the "MEET ICT" conference and "BITEX" exhibition are considered the largest of their kind in the field of ICT in Bahrain, and are launched under the slogan "Leading the way towards the digital economy through artificial intelligence”

 

It is expected that this conference will be attended in person by more than 1000 visitors from IT experts, workers and those interested in various fields of ICT from Bahrain, the region, and the world. This year's MEET ICT conference will include six comprehensive conference sessions with 25 influential speakers from inside and outside Bahrain discussing topics such as Digital Transformation, FinTech, cybersecurity, blockchain, smart cities, and others. This is in addition to 50 exhibitors from Bahraini, regional, and international companies working in the field of ICT.
